John P. McCall Jr: A Dallas Family Law Attorney You Can Count On
Family law has been the focus of The Law Offices of John P. McCall Jr. since it was established in 2003. Having run a successful legal practice for several years he was elected to Justice of the Peace in Dallas county becoming Texas’ first openly gay elected judge. McCall has been a pioneer in Dallas-Fort Worth in the area of LGBT family law and same sex divorce matters. McCall said in a 2013 article in the Dallas Voice that “it’s still common for gay parents to have their sexuality used against them by an ex-spouse, but unless there’s a legitimate legal issue, it doesn’t hold up in court. He said as long as LGBT parents can prove they’ve been good parents and care about their children’s welfare, the courts are on their side.”
John McCall has been something of pioneer in the area of same sex family law and is always looking for cases where he can help his clients and score a win for the LGBT community. He has represented countless clients whose former spouses tried to use their sexuality against them and won. He specializes in working with clients who have tried working with other attorneys who say their case is not able to be won.
He is often asked by friends and potential clients if having an attorney who is gay will help in a same sex divorce. It may not be necessary to have a gay attorney but having a gay friendly attorney will dramatically change how your case is perceived by the judge and the public. The Law Offices of John P. McCall Jr. is very sensitive to how cases are listed in the public record and will make sure that your private life stays private. That experience along with his perspective from being the judge in hundreds of civil matters gives him a crystal clear view of what fact patterns are relevant in a family law matter and what often amounts to little more than petty libel from an angry spouse.
John earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas in Austin in 1983, as well as a Master of Business Administration from East Texas State University in 1990. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2002. He has built a successful practice concentrating on the areas of adoption, divorce, child support, child custody, visitation, and other legal issues that affect families in the Dallas metropolitan area.
John opened his Dallas family law practice in 2003 and was one of the first attorney’s in the DFW to market to the under served LGBT community and as a result has been featured in local and national publications for his groundbreaking work. After years in the trenches developing an extensive reputation as a sought-after litigator for complex and difficult cases he was led to seek a seat as a Justice of the Peace in the Dallas County Justice Court and was appointed to Precinct 5.
John’s extensive legal experience, success in the courtroom and unique perspective coming from serving as a judge makes him an indomitable advocate for you.
